East Bay SPCA Dog Training Program
If you’re looking to train your new puppy, young adult canine or older dog, you’ve come to the right place. The East Bay SPCA has a variety of classes on weeknights and weekends and in two different locations to serve your needs as a dog trainer.
- Schedule and description of classes.
- Review our policies before signing up.
- Enrollment Form.
You can register for any of our dog training classes by mailing or faxing the enrollment form to us. You can also enroll online. You will receive confirmation of enrollment either via email, on the phone or at the time of adoption. It may take us up to 72 hours to confirm your enrollment. If you do not receive confirmation with 72 hours, please email info@eastbayspca.org or call 510-563-4621.
We offer a $50 discount if you adopt your dog from an animal shelter or rescue group. We will require proof of adoption at your first class. We do have a few classes where the discount cannot be offered, or is reduced.
Class sizes are limited.
You must register in advance for all dog trainer classes. Payment is required at time of enrollment to reserve a space in class. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted for in-person enrollments, credit card or check for mail enrollments, credit card only for fax and online enrollments. Once you have been confirmed for a class, the fee is only refundable if you cancel in writing 7 days before the class starts. If you adopt from us and return the dog, your fees are not refundable for any reason. In addition, if you do not provide a written cancellation with at least 7 days notice, no refund will be given.
Please contact training@eastbayspca.org or call 510-569-0702 (Oakland) or 925-479-9670 (Dublin) with any questions.
The first class of Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Obedience I are orientations. You do not bring your puppy or dog to this class. We will go over all the basics at that class and let you know what you need to bring to your next class. You must attend this orientation to be able to continue in this class. You will forfeit your fee if you do not come to this class. Please bring to the orientation proof of at least 2 DHLPP vaccinations for puppies and a current rabies vaccination for all dogs over 4 months of age. You must present your proof of vaccination at the first class in order to continue.
Classes meet at the Oakland SPCA or the Tri Valley SPCA. Please ensure you are signing up for the location that is most convenient for you.
You’ve made it! Now that you have taught your dog some basic commands, and have dealt with some common dog issues, it’s time to try the more advanced commands. It’s important to understand that your dog may not be ready for more advanced commands. Dogs don’t always work on a schedule, so focus on your dog’s individual needs before moving on.
